The elements of nature inspire us with their beauty, their purity and their many forms.
Serie Nº1 arises as a formal exploration inspired by a constant and close reference: the trees that surround our workshop in Valls. Beyond their natural function, trees have always been a source of inspiration in disciplines such as design, art, and architecture.
In this project, we observed their structures — trunks, branches, canopies — and translated them into elemental ceramic geometries. Conical, cylindrical, compact, or irregular, these natural forms guided us in developing six of our own models: Fagus, Olea, Larix, Buxus, Ilex, and Araar.
Each piece is handcrafted in three different ceramic materials: red clay, white stoneware, and black manganese clay. Low-temperature firing and the absence of glaze reveal the raw texture of the clay and emphasize its material character.
Although Serie Nº1 is presented as a collection of candle holders, its design also allows each piece to function as a decorative object or functional sculpture.
With this series, we began to develop our own language in ceramic work: one based on rhythm, repetition, formal restraint, and a connection to the immediate natural environment.
